Personal Training
I was always a slim and fit kid right into my late twenties, where I would work out five times a week, roughly 1 to 1.5 hrs per session. I had time on my hands and could focus on me. Then I met my now husband. While still dating, we would enjoy frequent dinners out, lots of good wine and desserts and not long after, I settled into an admin role which meant hours of sitting on my butt. Over four years, the focus came off myself and towards making room for a partner and indulging with him, which unfortunately meant the kilos started to pile on. I could see the changes in my clothes and my low energy levels. Two and a half years after marriage, I settled into a new life routine that indicated the hours of a day I could use to focus on myself again. I knew I did not want to join a regular Gym – who could be bothered by the craziness of grunting gym devotees? I also wanted to sign up with someone who could give me a personalized training regime and motivate me.
I ran a locality search of personal trainers in my area and came across Margie. I read her inspirational story on her website and instantly got a good ‘vibe’. When I first walked into her studio, I loved what I saw: a dedicated fitness professional who also believes in life balance, indicative of the grand Buddha statue in the outdoor courtyard visible through the ceiling-to-floor glass panels. It has a great atmosphere and is peaceful, yet still, the focus is on working hard.
As it turns out, Margie listened to what I wanted to achieve ( all I wanted was to lose 5 kilos, but they are the most stubborn five kilos to lose now that I am in my thirties!!!), and she was honest about what it would take to achieve my goal. She promised to take care of my physical requirements, but I had to commit to cutting out certain foods and my beloved wine…HUGE commitment when you think about it because you have to dig deep to remind yourself about what you set out to achieve – you cannot afford to give in. So, I stuck with it.
Margie is tough on you when you need it and understands where it counts. If you are looking for a soft personal trainer who will lie to make you feel good about where you have let yourself get to, don’t waste her time or money.
If you are committed to hearing it like it is and working hard to get it, Margie is the most professional trainer to help you get there successfully. If you slip over and pig out one night, she won’t pat you on the shoulder and tell you, ‘It’s okay’…No, Margie will bring home the reality of how hard you must work to shed that all off – don’t kid yourself!
Margie, thank you for kicking my butt when it needed it most and for the times you have shown consideration and compassion to the difficulties associated with making a lifestyle change – meeting you has helped me achieve my goals and reminds me that the relationships we have with others are just as meaningful as the relationship we have with ourselves– so if you are feeling sluggish and a little heavier than usual, then trust Margie with your body, mind and soul.
