Please read before your Aerial Yoga session.
If you are a first-timer to Aerial Yoga ” get ready to have fun learning new moves, exercises and flying. Aerial Yoga is for everyone and loads of fun. You will have to sign a form before the session to inform us about any injuries, contraindications, or medications. In your 1st session, when you arrive, you must write everything on your forms so we can help & assist you in the session. If you do not let us know your medical history, you may have some challenges during your session, as some poses may not suit you. For example, if you have a lower back challenge, we advise which pose will suit you, as some must be modified.
Another example is if you have neck injuries, we have to modify some poses for you. Please inform us of any challenges you may have in your body and your exercise history. We are here to support you in your aerial yoga journey. By letting us know what is happening in your body, we can then tailor the poses to suit you and will be able to assist you in your class.
Class Etiquette & What to Expect
Please arrive on time. If you do not, this disrupts the sessions. The session will start on time, so if you are late, you will miss the intro and have to wait until the next exercise. Some people feel a deep tissue massage where the hammock is placed.– this will subside after a few classes. (You may feel the hammock working the lymphatic system under your armpits and hip region.)
What to bring and wear to a session.
You must wear a long-sleeved top, long pants & socks, so wearing a long-sleeved T-shirt and long pants will help you with all the poses. Hydrate as needed. We will have breaks. Remember, your body is made up of over 70% water, so you must hydrate by drinking 2 litres of water a day to replenish your mind-body & spirit. This will stop the afternoon tiredness – a slump that you may be having. Please Bring water bottles and towels as you may sweat and need to wipe yourself down. Ensure you have had a light snack only 2 hours before the session. Turn all cell phones and mobiles off. If you do not, this disrupts the flow.
Do not drink coffee before the class or alcohol. Do not drink alcohol the night before, as you may feel sick in the hammocks. No bling – no jewellery, belly rings, wedding rings, earrings, watches, or long nails, as they will tear and rip the hammocks. No fake tan or makeup, as it will mark the hammocks. Do your best to drink lots of water the night before the session, keeping your body hydrated. Some people do feel a deep tissue massage and lymphatic drainage massage after the session.
